Litochoro, Greece

It's that time of year, everyone around the Mediterranean is busy harvesting olives. It takes a great deal of balance and tree climbing skills as they are all picked by hand. Some of the olives from our grove were for eating, but most were used to make oil. We were lucky to get to see every aspect from harvesting to oil production, and learned a great deal about the whole process...making the product all the more enjoyable in the end. We ended up with about 7,000 pounds from around 150 trees which turned into a half ton of oil. :) They're not expecting to have a harvest next year, so hopefully this will keep their personal supply stocked.
