Orcas Island

Even though the San Juan islands seem to be right at our doorstep, it seems we don't make it out to them as often as we'd like.  An extention of a birthday gift made for a great getaway and a continued appreciation of island life.  This time of year, the islands are slow and lazy, and really perfect especially when the sun shines.  Although the road to Mt. Constitution was blocked by snow, the sun shown our entire stay and so we explored and relaxed.
The Madrona trees, which are frequented in many of the following photos are one of our favorite trees.  Maybe it's because they only grow on the coastline in this area of the world, or the way the bark peels and glows especially red in the sunset.  Whatever be the fascination, they are truly beautiful.
Enjoy.

Mt. Baker

Always a wonderful winter wonderland up at Baker.  A beloved way to celebrate another birthday, and grateful for the beautiful weather and powder to go with it!

Happy Birthday John!!

Construction of the remodel is still underway.  We're holding off those pictures until everything's completed.  In the meantime, the days go by.  Hoping this finds you all in good health and surrounded by people and places you love.
